On arrival, you start your trek following winding tracks leading to the forest. You have the opportunity to meet the local farmers working in the fields and learn how they cultivate their land, fish and hunt for small game. After you enter the forest, your trek continues for around 1,5 hours to the village of Ban Phavie, a magnificent Khmu village sitting on top of a hill. You will then have a massage.
You cross the bridge on to a private island in the middle of the River Nam Pak to enjoy the magnificent sunset. As you sip chilled champagne accompanied by the finest foie gras, the setting sun fills the sky with ever-changing colours as it falls behind the mountains. After sunset, your “butler for the evening” escorts you to your table in the sala and you enjoy a romantic candle-lit dinner prepared by your personal chef.

Day 3: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
You set off around 08h30 by 4x4 following a beautiful road along the Nam Pak River to visit two villages of the Ikhos people. The Ikhos are one of the most reclusive communities in Laos and originate from Yunnan Province in China and also from Tibet. You enter their villages with the houses made from wood and bamboo and learn about their way of life. The Ikhos believe in the spirit world which affects their lives on a daily basis. Also, you will learn about the unique way that they dye their clothes using dyes made from plants from the forests. A half day tour that takes you back in time and leaves you with incredible memories.
You return to the Resort for lunch and have the afternoon free to relax or enjoy the facilities of the Resort. At the end of the day, you take part in a “Baci” or Welcome ceremony to bless your marriage. In this country animist beliefs still exist, including the belief that we each have 32 souls; one for each part of the body. These souls (or Khouanes) tend to escape and when they do, they are taken by other spirits causing bad luck and illness. So it is important to rekindle them at the ceremony of “Remembrance of the Souls” Close family & friends gather in a room with an altar of flowers. Strands of cotton radiate from the altar symbolizing the bonds with the world of the souls; cakes, fruits, alcohol, sticks of incense, candles and money are also laid out in order to encourage the souls to return. A wise old man officiates; surrounded by the family and guests, he lights 4 candles placed on top of the altar and prays to the gods. Using meditation and ritual chants, the wise one encourages the 32 souls to return and accept the offerings. Lastly, everybody makes a wish and has a bracelet tied on their wrists in order to keep the returned souls. The ceremony is followed by a meal with the local people in one of their homes and accompanied by the local cider – Lao Hay.
Overnight stay at the Resort.
Day 4: Breakfast / Lunch /...
After breakfast, you set off for Muang Khua by 4x4. You follow the main road to Phongsaly that crosses rolling hills and eventually leads to Dien Bien Phu in Vietnam. As you pass along the banks of the Nam Pak River, you may see the local people panning for gold. After approximately 2½ hours, you reach Muang Khua where your luxury private boat is waiting for you. This descent of the Nam Ou River to Nong Khiaw is one of the most beautiful in the country. The cruise takes you through many villages and beautiful landscapes with limestone formations rising majestically from the water. A picnic barbecue lunch is taken on one of the many beaches along the river. Our services end on your arrival in Nong Khiaw.
